Last Sunday the 24 th of July the DF 95 Group ran its second Match Race event for the year, after a simple selection process 8 skippers were chosen by ballot to sail in the 20 race round 2 event. The weather at Emerald Lakes was kind to us with bright blue sky , a south to south east breeze of 6 to 12 knots that oscillated around 30 to 45 degrees and reasonably flat water.

Our 8 skippers, 4 flights  started the 20 race programme just after midday racing over a windward leeward course off the beach in area no one. One of the key features in our match Race programme is the fact all skippers have 4 chances before they are  eliminated which makes this event so successful.

The days winners were in 1st Place Kevin Harris sail No 15 , who today had excellent boat speed and he was able to pick the wind shifts perfectly, in 2nd place Frank Arrowsmith sailing his new 95 , sail No 1 who could have won the Final race however a large wind shift ended his chances , and in 3rd place was John Musgrave who had a hard road to final, having to win against some of our fleets best Skippers. Congratulations Guys, well done.

There are now two remaining Match Race days still to be completed before the end of the 2022 season, with these variations of yacht racing in our annual sailing programme really makes owning a DF 95 worthwhile and more enjoyable.
